Six ways an individual can fight climate change

Paris Agreement was signed by 195 nations, pledging to reduce carbon emissions. While US has pulled out of #ParisClimateDeal individuals can still continue this pledge. This is how :

Reducing food use and waste- Lot of emission is made in producing and transporting food. We must buy and consume as per our need. Also wastage of food decomposes it to green house gases which in turn prove disastrous for our planet.

Plastic free world- We can change the fate of our mother earth by discouraging use of plastic be it plastic bags, plastic bottles or pouches. Everything which decomposes itself to earth is good and which do not is bad for the health of environment. Plastic do not decompose and thus prohibits earth’s growth.

Styrofoam – This is the latest addition to the problem. The white good looking monster is the chemical cousin of polythene. The modern disposables like glasses, plates and containers are becoming intrinsic part of household. People have chosen them for their ease of use and cheaper price. They find their lost resort in landfills but the day is not far when styrofoam will gobble up our space too.

Electricity- Recent developments have revealed that the world is shifting towards greener energy. But this paradigm shift will take another decade.Till then we rely on coal and fossils to lit our lives lamps, at least third world still does. Consumption of lesser electricity with use of energy saving equipments will accelerate the movement of saving our planet.

Independence  from Non renewable energy sources – Our transportation is major consumer of petroleum products which not only is limited but also polluting. Urban roads have choked due to overuse of private vehicles. Some of roads remain permanent blocked due to traffic. The only seemed solution is use of public transport that too which uses green energy. This will not only reduce emissions but also improve traffic conditions and thus human life.

Green spaces in our house-We all have some space in our houses which can be devoted to plants. This could prove to be biggest fight against climate change. There can be a kitchen garden where an individual can learn to grow own food. Once people come to process of growing be it anything they will take care of environment and respect people who grow food for us.

Why I Love Narendra Modi?

Two nations were born on 15th August 1947.World sees which one has fared better. One is reeling under poverty, chaos and extremist intrusion whereas other has stood strong to be an emerging economic power. The difference between the stark opposite nations  is the governance. The governments so far has done good that’s the reason for its prosperity. The article doesn’t undermine the achievement of previous people. It only glorifies the qualities of a person which we have not seen for years in Indian politics.

Mass Connection-There has been much debate on “Chaiwala”, some say he was, others say it is a political gimmick.Whether he was or not shouldn’t be a citizen’s concern. Very few can conclude it was just a figure of speech. But the fact is, everyone has seen his house in Vadnagar, depicting his humble beginning. And humble beginning just means  he must have undergone all the things through which a common man passes:be it queues, travelling through general or sleeper compartment in railways, struggle for livelihood etc. He was part of nations growth hence can feel the problems felt my many (ours is a nation of lower or middle class),unlike those who grew in affluence and chose politics as their ancestral business. People can connect to him better as they feel he is one from among them.

Faith in Rising India-It is faith that keeps us alive. We do extraordinary things if we have faith. For instance you go to a public office for some document say driving licence. You are of the idea that lets not pay bribe and go by the process. After few days of harassment you will realise that its better to bribe and get off this system. One of my friend’s mother’s chain was snatched by some biker. Its very difficult to file an FIR. He somehow with support of his connections got it lodged. After few weeks he and his mother had to visit police station and magistrate’s office after every two days. He finally had to withdraw his complaint as they were treated as if they themselves have committed some crime. Astonishingly withdrawal also included bribe. In both the cases victim was common man and his faith on system was shattered. “India hai”, “Kya kar sakte hain”, “Inme padna he nahi hai”  etc are common alibis. Mr Modi being in the highest office may face such challenges daily in numerous ways. This man however has such insurmountable faith in democratic set up, culture and governance that he can overcome any problem be it poverty, corruption, development etc. The faith in turn is reverberated by people too. Call it “Modi bhakts” or “BJP Band”  but the people have found a leader which they were searching for years.

Reformist-With changing times we need to make changes in our laws and rules which govern the country. These changes few times for a short period, can be difficult for people who vote to bring the government. Thus it is a non populist measure. In simpler way a government in India has to face the public once every five years. Introduction of new rules won’t bear fruit within this five year period. Hence a conservative government will keep reforms aside and work to maintain status quo. But progress itself means break the status quo and process. Mr Modi has took to reforms be it tax reforms (GST), social reforms (Jan Dhan, UID), digital revolution, revision of foreign treaties. We still wait for police, land reforms and employment generation. Also governments  are hesitant to take up the long term projects as they need resources which otherwise could have been used to show to the people in limited tenure. Anyhow some has to have such courage to take up such projects, this government seems to have flare for it.

Politics of Development – The much hyped Gujarat Model which Mr Prime Minister has been propagating is actually the implementation of governance as enterprise. If we explore it is quite evident that every activity carried to sustain human life is business, then why not government should function as one. We as a job seeker project our greatest assignment to grab the one which we apply for. NaMo’s experiment and steps in Gujarat like egovernance and digitization, power reforms, basic infrastructure, use of technology in agriculture, tourism, attracting FDI(vibrant gujarat is so far the most successful in this) etc met with great success. This success was reason for him propagating the idea of development model. This should be considered as paradigm shift as other political parties too started to project and prove development as their basic agenda. Hitherto they either entangled themselves in caste, religion or character assassination.

A Taskmaster and Decision Maker-We all must have read his routine which astonishingly include four or five hours of sleep. He hasn’t any rest day for years. So in such way person working with him has to work if not par just below the par. It may be difficult for few but its lesson to be those who have enjoyed the so called “Sarkari Naukri”. It is unique form of leadership unprecedented in Indian governance where making the office holder responsible is trending. This ultimately will make them responsible to public as they hold “public office”. We have too many projects, laws, judgements pending for years. Some of them may need additional resources like money or manpower but many of them are waiting just for the lethargy of decision makers. Decision in fact must be a calculated and wise one  but leaders shouldn’t shoo away just because they want to play it safe. Mr PM has such unique quality of making it fast. We all must have seen in our daily lives there may be hurdles but most of tasks need to be decided and  started to be worked upon. Willpower and sense of service to the nation are the ingredients of dish Decision.

Being Indian – Wherever he goes, he propagates Indianness and Indian culture.During first year in office media covered his foreign trips where Namo was lauded as true leader of Indian diaspora. He takes time to meet and hear them. Evacuation from South Sudan and Yemen made people realise that they are taken care. Another impressive theme is he places Indians like Swami Vivekananda, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay as icons. Supports Yoga and Ayurveda as intrinsic part of our growth. Today world knows him to be the best Ambassador of India.

Visionary-It is imperative for government to spend on projects which are the need of the future. The problem with the planners is they make a bridge which takes two years to complete and the users which were determined then, double or triple when it is ready for use. Everyone from the executioner’s side know this but they do not have that leap of faith or vision to make it last for long. Mr Namo has that vision which can be found in Chabahar port, make in India, smart city, medical colleges, waterways project, new railway lines etc.

A group of people will always be against government or PM and for a reason, they are important too. No one can be perfect, there should always be people to judge and question the decision makers in democracy else the absence of such people will turn it to autocracy. Many a time it seems that he is dictator within the party, but it might be the need to emphasis harmony. A corporator amalgamates all his relatives to the contract business within town. Even an assistant in a government set up manages to hook up some of his relatives in job in an office. But the family members of Narendra Modi still live the same simple lives. Also we cannot think that being the brother or sister of CM and now PM they had been favoured anywhere. Such is the honesty of this man.

Letter to  Representatives of Public(RePublic)

Dear Republic,

Republic day is approaching. You must be well versed with the meaning of Republic. If not, I would like to remind you “It means the ultimate power rests with the public and their elected representatives and also it has an elected head of state”. However we as public gain this power just before elections and loss immediately after casting our votes. Hence for most of the time its you who has all of it.

Don’t be afraid, I am not asking you a commitment to wipe corruption, poverty or reservation. This letter doesn’t challenge or force you to help.

Its about safeguarding a lady who works to take care of her only mother and younger brother. She is being harassed by local politician only because he has support of “One of you”.

Its about safety of a college girl whose friends punish her for being friendly with them only because the culprit’s father has “Political Connections”.

Its about giving a fearless path to a female teen who covers a distance of five kilometers to go to school. Local goons challenge her modesty only because our law and order department is little too busy minting money and they have to serve the “Leader”

Its about safe return of a four year child who has gone to play and her parents are away to earn their livelihood. The animals try to pounce upon her only because they are intoxicated or previously let off without any harm by our judiciary all again for their “Connections”

Its about a foetus whose killing was decided only because two day ago it turned out to be a girl. And the bearer either are too insecure for its security or too burdened to bring her up.

The democratic set up had vested immense power upon you. We can’t help ourselves, as we collectively have surrendered all the powers to you.On this republic day its my request to safeguard these women in distress. Do assure that the people committing such crimes do not get any support from your machinery and they are punished well for their ill doings. A respected women is the foundation of progressive society.

                            Yours Sincerely

                           One among Public

Precision Agriculture-Last Resort to Food Security

“Human beings can be rich and advanced but they  can’t eat concrete, mobiles or softwares. They  need food to survive upon. ”  #SachQuotes

India is land of agrarian society .Majority of its population is engaged in agriculture and allied services for its livelihood. We are facing a problem due to rising number of people and thus shrinking agricultural land . United States in 50s also faced somewhat similar problem . They had large farms but limited people to work on them. The only difference between them and us is we are large work force and limited farm lands:a complete vice versa. What Americans did then, they did what they are best at: Innovate. They invented big farm machines which could do work of hundreds of workers within no time. After these many years we in India are using such machines to optimum level. But same answer to the old age question couldn’t be correct as the question has changed its dimensions.
Despite big measures we are in huge pressure to increase productivity per unit of land. In current times the most accurate solution to this problem is  Precision Agriculture aka Precision Farming. The simplest definition to this term is use of latest technology so as to maximise the precision of modern machines. This in turn means precise use of inputs like fertilizer, water, pesticide to maximise the output. Majority of our farm labour population is shifting to urban areas to find livelihood as the profitability in marginal farming is dwindling day by day. Thus use of machines will not only help to produce precisely but it also addresses the problem of shortage of labour.

Tools used in precision farming:

GPS-Global positioning system is used for large farms say of 1000 acres. One cannot survey each corner to know the health of the crop. For example a particular patch may have more evaporation as compared to other hence it may require more irrigation GPS may help to identify such spots. Also if large farm need to be ploughed and few area among it already sowed then with the an GPS controlled automated tractor may help to plough without interference in already sown area.

Drones-Drones are miniature helicopters which carry anything depending upon its load bearing capacity. In PA drones are used to carry high definition cameras. Sensitive crops like that of flowers require keen monitoring. The cameras used in these drones can transfer real time images which in turn is linked to software which analyses these images. Based on the image processing result the further course can be decided.

Robot- Humans desire to enslave science finds resort in Robots. Robots help is sowing and harvesting crops. All they need is fuel, either fossil or electric. They truly address the problem of scant labour.

MPC Microprocessor Controlled drip irrigation – The microprocessor placed somewhere near the plant collects data which is analysed to conclude about the requirements of the plant. Daily requirements of fertiliser and water is fed using the drip irrigation.

Heavy Farm Machinery-The growth of agricultural instruments by the use of technology has been phenomenal in the last  one or two decades. There are machines for ploughing, sowing, irrigating and harvesting. This can be simple one which is like a hand held device or huge one. Use of these machines has not only made the work simpler but also helped in increasing per unit area produce.

Earth  today sustains 7.5 billion human. With this growth rate by 2050 we will have 20 billions bellies to feed. Moreover with the growth of population the agrable  land will shrink to half of what it is today. We have somehow deviced ways to accommodate people but a lot need to be done to arrange for food.

Change “The universal truth”

When you’re finished changing, you’re finished. -Benjamin Franklin

The main reason of fear and misery in human being is reluctanance to change,if we introspect we will find that it is one of  the basic sanskaar of our soul.Paradox is that,We love change but don’t want to change. The main reason for this is  “fear of unknown”. we always ignore present and plan for future and in the end, nothing will happen according to our plan.

We can’t even join this mrityu lok if change doesn’t happen to cells present  in the womb.If you see human birth is result of nine month continuous change process and after that it continues. There are some who may think that change ends with the end of life but if you look from a bird’s eye view you will realize that it continues. The soul leaves the body and search for a new one and the chakra of Jeevan Mrityu continues.

We are continually evolving no matter where we are.It is also benfitial for humans  in all walks of life. The world around us is changing very rapidly and it will be totally different tomorrow than what we are looking to it today.

Embrace change, love your life and celebrate your existence.

Multiplication Rule of Happiness

As soon as we are born we start our search. Search for food, shelter and security remain at the top among all these searches. As we grow up the urge for such search increases by many fold and it diverges into multiple things: learning, job, house, perfect relations etc.

We are all taught how to live a prosperous life. But very few or least among all are preached about happiness. If we thoughtfully examine human lives we can reach to a simple conclusion that the motto of human life is “Avoidance of pain and pursuit of Happiness”. Our every act  is confined to pursue happiness. Partying, watching a movie, travelling to scenic place etc are direct ways to attain happiness. Some people help or sacrifice for others this act gives them happiness that is why they do it.

Its strange to note that if someone dies or leaves us we do sulk or become sad. The reason again is we cry for loss of happiness. Those who have gone can’t feel anything but we do feel for them because we had lost our source of happiness.

Life is broadly made of following factors:

1. Physical-We are all made up of bone and blood. This factor includes our health and wellness

2. Emotional-Physical body without mind and consciousness is inanimate. For a happier life our feelings should be well balanced.

3. Social-No man is an island, we depend on others for our daily needs. Thus we have to have a society and good terms with the constituent members of society.

4. Occupational-Work is an important aspect too. If we work for eight hours a day our professional or occupational life constitutes one third of our life.

5. Financial-Modern world runs on money. It is important to be financially able to sustain and enjoy the serendipities of life.

6. Environmental-Man and nature mutually coexist. One impacts the other, being good to other imparts the same for other.
Multiplication Rule of Happiness -:

We assume the above factors as examination papers and to lead a happy and contented life we have to pass them. And rule says that passing requires all of them to be multiplied. Also the basic rule of multiplication implies that if any of the multiplying factor is zero it will make the resultant zero. Hence in life we have to score at least some number except zero. If we fail to score in any of them our happiness automatically comes to cipher.

To understand further, we suppose that

We are unhealthy we can’t be happy.
We are too pessimistic and not bold     enough to face life we can’t be happy
We are aloof from society and if not, do not maintain a healthy relation with the members we can’t be happy
We are in constant friction with our work and work place we can’t be happy
We are financially too feeble and can’t afford to satiate our or loved one’s need we can’t be happy.
Finally if our environment does not favour us we can’t be happy

Not always the highest score is any of the subjects make us successful. Many a times a university topper in one subject fails in other one. In life too scoring too much in one may impact the other to be low. For instance we did good and saved too much (Scored well in financials) but couldn’t give time to our health or relations. Sooner or later we are going to succumb. The idea is not to be the best at all but is not be zero in any one.
